    About

Kitaohji first opened its doors in Ginza over 70 years ago, making its mark by offering its discerning guests an authentic kaiseki experience. Fast forward to today and Kitaohji has opened its first offshoot outside Japan, right in the heart of Bangkok’s trendy Thonglor district. Step in and the serene space featuring a Zen garden and sukiya-style private rooms whizzes you to Japan instantly.

Kaiseki perhaps best epitomises the heart of Japanese hospitality and at Kitaohji, they pride themselves for serving each guest with the spirit of “ichi-go ichi-e,” or “one time, one meeting.” Put simply, kaiseki is a multi-course meal which follows a meticulous order: cold appetiser, sashimi, a main, a vinegar dish, a deep-fried dish, rice or noodles, and dessert. The meal is prepared with seasonal ingredients, which means that the menu changes according to the freshest ingredients available that day.

For those still nervous about committing to the hefty price tag, a la carte options are also available, so there’s little reason not to head down to Kitaohji today! (July 2018)

    The buzz

“If you’ve got the cash, this is one of very few restaurants in Bangkok that specializes in kaiseki, which gives you an all-round experience of Japanese food.” -BK Magazine
