If anything, Laem Charoen is famous for introducing us to the Deep Fried Sea Bass with Fish Sauce thirty-five years ago, a dish that many of us have grown to love over the years.

    But it’s no surprise why this humble seafood place has now grown into a juggernaut. Its success is built on unique recipes that showcase the freshness of the meat at a cost that is affordable for many. We love nothing more than having a family meal, tucking into dishes such as the Deep Fried Snow Fish with Signature Aromatic Fish Sauce, or a pot of bubbling Mackerel Curry. Craving for crustaceans? Then don’t miss the Baked Crab, inspired by a traditional Chinese recipe which comes atop a bed of glass noodles. Then opt for a serving of the Chinese Broccoli and Salted Fish Fried Rice or Pineapple Fried Rice to round out the meal.

    The buzz

    This Eastern seafood chain has been a local favorite for over 30 years thanks to fresh fish and generous portions. It's atmosphere is straightforwardly industrial with a pop of green that isn't too overpowering. We reccommend that you stick with the simplest stuff on the menu such as grilled cockle in spicy dipping sauce, fried rice with crabmeat and deep-fried sea bass in sweet and sour sauce. -BK Magazine
