      About

It’s hard to miss the gorgeous window display of Met Cafe. Decorated with rare, vibrant blooms, it’s an eye-catcher that will draw you into this stylish cafe. The food here is as tasty as the interiors are pretty. Crafted from the owner’s secret family recipes, amassed from their worldly travels, the dishes have been tweaked and adjusted for local palates. For starters, the Wings of Angels is an apt name for the crispy-fried wings. Tossed with garlic and herbs from the restaurant’s own garden, the golden-brown skin and tender juicy meat is heavenly when enjoyed piping hot. The African Rhapsody Chicken is not to be missed — marinated in spices and grilled over charcoal, the succulent meat and flavoursome skin (the best part) is good on its own, and even better dipped into the accompany sauces and enjoyed with some grilled bananas. Be sure to save room for dessert. The Banana Upside Down Butterscotch Tart is a luscious creation of baked bananas and sticky butterscotch sauce in a puff pastry, with homemade vanilla ice cream. The sweet ending to a good meal. (January 2019)
