About
Each and every PizzaExpress strives to be beautiful, stylish, and unique, and their Beijing outpost definitely checks all those boxes! Achieving that elusive blend of casual, chic and comfortable, the bright wood panels, marble tables, and dark metal frames all come together for a space that's vibrant, energetic, and easy on the eyes.
The menu is expansive and varied with something for every palate. But at somewhere named PizzaExpress, how can anything but pizza be the main attraction! Whether you go for the thinner, crisper, Romana pizzas, or the smaller, thicker crust Classic pizzas, there're combinations of both modern and traditional. We love how appropriate it is to have the Peking Duck Romana on the Beijing menu, and are inclined to fully agree with every review we've seen that praise the Padana Romana, with its combination of goat's cheese, mozzarella, tomato, caramelised onions, spinach, red onions and garlic oil.
True connoisseurs of pizza will know that toppings are only half the show though, and good dough is what really slices up the good from the amazing. Well, PizzaExpress is so confident of how good their dough is that they serve it up by itself. Order up the Dough Balls "PizzaExpress" to savour the flavour of their famous dough, with garlic butter, pesto rosso, and a homemade pesto Genovese.
Though PizzaExpress may be a British chain, there's something distinctly Italian in the attention to detail. Ingredients are handled with care, sauces crafted with respect, and dough famous in and of its own right. The food at PizzaExpress may be fast, but we like to think that the name is more about how everything on offer expresses that little bit of Italy. Earnestly. Honestly. Deliciously. (Nov 2014)
