      Press release

At Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, culinary experiences excite and intrigue – from contemporary presentations of Thai and Mediterranean cuisine, interactive and romantic experiences, to one of Phuket’s most impressive wine collections and one of the world’s most exclusive coffees.

At the beachfront restaurant, each day begins with a breakfast buffet by the sea. Asian and western favourites are joined by nutritious selections, as well as eggs and waffles made to order.

Post breakfast, beside the shoreline pool, Breeze offers a tropical bar retreat all day until midnight. Guests are encouraged to refresh and refuel by ordering direct from their sun loungers. Thirst-quenching beverages range from fresh juices and chilled beers to fruity mocktails and cocktails, with the resident mixologist crafting unique concoctions from lemongrass, lychee, ginger, Thai basil and green tea, resulting in fusion specials such as a native pomelo variation of the classic Limoncello. Gourmet comfort foods include ‘Classic Sliders of four mini burgers served with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, the house special sauce and fries’, as well as a ‘Sandwich in a Bowl of toasted bread, crisp lettuce, champignon mushrooms, tuna, all mixed in Ceasar dressing’.

Returning later in the day, Thai restaurant Dee Plee reveals spectacular sea views, enjoyed from the outdoor terrace. Exotic bar drinks whet the appetite for divine flavour pairings. Spicy salads, rich curries, wok tossed stir fries and seafood creations unravel in a culinary tour across the Kingdom, with Phuket and southern specialties including a ‘Massaman Nua southern dish of slow cooked, beef cheeks, crunchy peanut, in a massaman curry, flavoured with tamarind juice’.

Dinner takes on an elegant ambience at Sala Layan, with dishes to match. A range of four-course à la carte menus showcase treasures from the land and sea. Appetisers feature raw seafood delights such as a ‘Crudo bowl of king salmon, seabass and tuna, watercress and salmon roe taramasalata’. Marrying island and Mediterranean ingredients, ‘Phuket Lobster Catalana Style is served with roasted pimientos, grilled baby onions and crisp Spanish potatoes with spicy tomato sauce’.
