      About

A long-time worshipper at the altar of fresh seafood? Then this cosy joint is definitely already on your radar. Stepping into The Raw Bar’s wood-heavy interiors feels like a jaunt through a seaside market, with rows of marine catch laid out tantalisingly along the bar. The dim lights somehow up the excitement and you’ll find yourself impatient to dig into whatever they have on offer.

Known for their range of imported oysters – hailing from France, Australia, America, and the like – such as Belon, Kumamoto, and Coffin Bay, these succulent beauties explode on your tongue in deliciously salty bursts. As their name suggests, The Raw is packed with all manner of raw delicacies; select a carpaccio or two, beginning with their signature Hokkaido Wild Scallops before moving on to the tangier ceviches or a tuna tartare. Well aware that not every seafood lover is a fan of the raw movement, The Raw Bar smartly bolsters their menu with cooked options like Grilled Canadian Lobster with Garlic Herbs Butter, Steamed Razor Clams Chorizo with Sundried Tomatoes, and a host of appetizers such as Baked NZ Mussels and Classic Maryland Crab Cake that are guaranteed to get your mouth watering. We love the array of seafood that’s represented at The Raw Bar and if it’s freshness you’re after, this restaurant’s catch will more than do the job. (May 2016)

      The buzz

“The Raw Bar is a pleasant, relatively laidback place to shuck some fresh oyster while downing a bottle of Prosecco.” -BK Magazine

“Seafood, of course, plays a starring role on the menu, and fine, silky salmon can be scooped up either in a caviar-studded tartare or on top of traditional Russian blini. If it’s oysters you’re after, the restaurant serves an assortment of imports, all chilled on ice and beautifully presented.” -Travel + Leisure Asia
