    About

The keys to great Japanese fine dining are well-honed cooking techniques and premium ingredients, both of which can be found at the elegantly appointed Yuutaro. Glass walls, an eye-catching light fixture, and a mixture of woods opens up the space while waitresses dressed in Japanese yukatas scurry back and forth – it’s almost like you’re in Japan.

If the mix of contemporary and traditional is to your liking, you’ll be pleased to know that Yuutaro’s food philosophy runs in a similar vein. Chef and owner, Uthit Jittrong, puts his own modern interpretation on classic Japanese dishes, but takes pains to do so without sacrificing authenticity and quality. Savour items like Beef Tataki, Cool Egg Custard, and Scallop Carpaccio With Green Apple Wasabi Sauce. Be blown away by the sushi & sashimi menu featuring seafood like uni (sea urchin), otoro (top grade fatty tuna), and the perennially popular shake (salmon).

Die-hard Japanese cuisine fans may scoff that it’s difficult to find great Japanese food in Bangkok but Yuutaro’s determined to prove them wrong. Sourcing only the finest ingredients – A5 Matsuzaka beef and fresh wild maguro, for instance – and importing the majority of it from Japan at least five times a week? Just one of the things they’re known for. So book now and take a little trip to Japan, if only for a while. (December 2015)
