    About

Don’t bother hiding your reaction to the impressively decorated Bitterman - we’re not sure how long you can resist before reaching for the nearest camera anyway. Housed in an expansive glasshouse and teeming with tropical plants, Bitterman is a hip two stories of industrial greys, metals and wood.

Created around the idea of community and having fun with friends and family during meal times, the vibe is casual enough that you’d be more than happy to order a few plates to share. Their signatures include Mr Rapee (river prawn in spicy arrabiata sauce, baked with cheese on top) and Bitterman (slow-cooked beef short ribs in beer and red wine, served with mashed potato, seared vegetables, horseradish sauce, and grain mustard) but if you’re in a group, pass around larger portions like aromatic smoked duck leg with mulberry sauce, risotto or mash potato and rocket and Melting Pig (melty cheese and spinach in pork tenderloin, cabbage carbonara and sweet wine glaze) so you can try a variety of dishes. The more the merrier, we always say.

The restaurant prides itself on its wholesome philosophy and unadorned food, but we’re sure you’ll agree that the eye candy definitely doesn’t hurt either! (February 2016)

    The buzz

“Adorned with glass and embellished with garden plants, Bitterman has taken over the now-defunct Jim Thompson’s Sala Daeng café and turned it into the industrial-style eatery. The founders, third-year architecture students, have brought a quirky design to the place. “ -Coconuts Bangkok
