    About

    For a sizzling good time, head to Kamui Hokkaido Dining. This first international outfit brought in from Yokohama Bay Quarter puts the spotlight on the Japanese-style of grilling meats and seafood over a hot plate, using produce imported from around the world.

    The star of the show at Kamui is the wagyu from Furano, Hokkaido. The beef boasts a snowy web of beautiful marbling, and is meltingly tender when cooked to medium-rare perfection. To cut through the richness, savour the buttery meat with a dab of house-made wasabi sauce and egg yolk mustard ponzu.

    Seafood lovers will enjoy the wide selection, flown in from Japan four times a week. The King Crab is a must-try; the meat is sweet with a slight smokiness from the grill, paired with a crab-infused miso sauce to accentuate its natural flavours. If you’re in the mood to treat yourself, go for the full works and order Chef’s Omotenashi Fish Tasting Menu. The five-course dinner promises to take you on a gastronomic journey, with fine dishes such as Uni Chawanmushi infused with truffles, and seasonal fish like amadai cooked in cauliflower cream sauce, or Hokkaido sanma served with lotus kinpira (sauteed lotus).

    Be sure to order some Sashimi as well — from creamy sea urchin to juicy prawns and scallops served on the shell, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this massive raw seafood platter. (June 2019)
