    About

Koi is a bit of an institution in Bangkok. A world-famous chain originating from LA, the Bangkok outpost is known for being a playground for the city’s swanky A-list, gathering in their sharp togs to chow down on swish cocktails and elegant Japanese food with an urbane Californian sensibility. The restaurant-lounge has leveled up with its new premises in the former Ku De Ta, making it one of the city’s finest ultra-lounges. With its leather-lined upholstery, sultry ambience, and gorgeous designer bar, it’s easy to forget the main draw here is the excellent food. Put together by a team of Japanese chefs, expect a menu of indulgent sushi and grilled wagyu to go with an impeccably curated list of Japanese whiskies. Kick off the meal with an elegant starter like the Spicy Tuna served up with crispy rice wedges before diving into a platter of Nigiri Sushi featuring perennial favourites like Fatty Tuna and Uni. The highlight of the menu is a particularly sinful Gyudon featuring wagyu beef, truffled mash, and fried rice. Beautiful food, surroundings, and people, with an amazing view of the city to boot, there’s a reason Koi is one of the Bangkok’s go-to places to enjoy the city’s much-feted high life. (October 2018)

    The buzz

“The sleek vibe and hi-so looking crowd (expect to recognize faces from those Bangkok Post social pages) distract from the fact that Koi actually turns out some comforting plates of food.” -Time Out Bangkok
