      There is nothing quite as glorious as the raw shellfish bar. Gleaming, pearlescent shells hiding tender, briny delectables - is there anything harder to resist?. Sea Truffle’s menu of premium seafood, much of it live, is indeed an array of the sea-dwelling equivalents of the prized truffle: think the rich sweetness of Irish oysters and creamy uni that you can eat as sashimi, in a luxe crostini, or as a deliciously indulgent shooter mixed with some ponzu sauce and vodka. Sure, fresh uni, oysters, and lobsters run through the menu, but there are also cooked items featuring the classic dishes of seaside cities like Lobster Salad Roll, a buttery bun stuffed with aioli-slicked Maine lobster, and a robust Ahi Poke Bowl featuring marinated chunks of yellowfin tuna in a zingy spice mix.

      Thai food gets a nod, with an especially indulgent Lobster Pad Thai studded with sweet Maine lobster, as does refined European fare like Uni Ravioli, little parcels of pasta filled to the brim with creamy Pacific sea urchin in a light cream sauce. We also wouldn’t say no to the Uni Ikura Donburi, one of the best ways to eat this rich treasure: over pearl rice and slivers of seaweed with little orange Ikura gems. If you’re a seafood lover, this place will make you delirious with its premium seafood prepared in ways that bring out their best flavours. Or just have it raw and savour the best the sea has to offer. (September 2017)
