      About

There may be a plethora of steakhouses and Japanese restaurants in town, but have you ever heard of a Japanese-style steakhouse? Things are able to change with So Ra Ya, Bangkok’s first Japanese-style steakhouse and izakaya. With over 30 years of experience in Japanese cuisine, So Ra Ya’s head chef promises authentic Japanese food made with the best ingredients from around the world.

No prizes for guessing what the highlight at So Ra Ya is. For a decadent meal, the Sumibi Steak or the Australian Premium Grass Fed tenderloin are your best bets. Charcoal is used to grill the meats and seafood to give it a unique smoky flavour while preserving its original flavour, so it’s no wonder the meat is tender, juicy, and succulent. For those who do prefer a smaller portion of red meat, the Wagyu Beef Curry Rice or the Sumibi Steakdon are intriguing alternatives that pack a punch nonetheless. Not a steak-lover? Don’t worry, the restaurant is also an izakaya, offering a wide range of Japanese favourites that will please every palate. We are major fans of the Maine Lobster, served with a feisty soya garlic butter that complements the sweetness of the fleshy lobster. And who can forget the comfy Katsudon or Oyakodon? Finally, to elevate the experience, we suggest having a glass of sake, sochu, or Japanese whiskey in hand. How else are you going to say cheers to a hearty meal otherwise? (December 2016)
