    There are few things better than tucking into a big plate of pasta, sitting by a gleaming blue gem of a pool. Nestled on the 8th floor of Pathumwan Princess Hotel, this homely Italian restaurant cooks pasta and pizzas just like mama’s, with a unique menu selection. Take your pick of dried, organic, or fresh homemade pasta from the ‘Pasta Pantry’, which offers interesting varieties such as caccavelle (a pot-shaped pasta good for sopping up sauce) and calamarata (a thick, ring-shaped pasta). The former goes best with sausages, mushrooms, scamorza cheese, and a generous ladle of chef Roberto’s ‘secret sauce’, while the latter is a lighter dish mixed with slices of fresh salmon, pine nuts, and sweet cherry tomatoes. Also good from the menu are the Seafood and Bolognese Lasagna, where fresh sheets of homemade pasta are used to make a layered bed for the rich meat sauce.

    End the meal on the sweet note with a scoop of silky-smooth gelato — Pistachio and Hazelnut being the most popular flavours. We won’t tell if you decide to go for both. (January 2019)
