    About

Imagine dining by the pool, watching the soft light of dusk gently bounce off the gleaming pool set in the trees-lined garden by the beach. It’s little wonder that SALA, the hotel restaurant in the luxurious SALA Phuket Resort, gets top marks for the most romantic sunset view.

And the food measures up, too. There’s tempura-battered soft-shell crab, cooked with yellow curry powder, sweet peppers and coconut milk. Or indulge in the rock lobster, done two ways. Tuck into the succulent chunks of mildly sweet flesh are bathed in a rich mild green curry flavoured with kaffir lime. Or, start the meal with a bisque — plump pieces of poached rock lobster in a fresh cream soup, laced with cognac and roasted prawns for a sweet, smoky aroma. A warm toasted cheese croute finishes this indulgent soup.

There’s no lack of spice to heat things up in this romantic restaurant, either. The Gaeng khua neua kam wua, for instance, is a fragrant if spicy red curry, served over tender chunks of braised beef cheeks, Asian mushrooms and crispy betel leaves. (Oct 2018)
