About
Bangkok’s famed The Kitchen Group, behind such stylish haunts as Pesca Mar and Terra Bistro, bring their considerable talents to bear on Italian cuisine with Mozza by Cocotte, an homage to the kitchens of Italian mothers. It doesn’t really need much more of a selling point, but everything about this restaurant, from its charming rustic chic interiors to its prime people-watching position in the middle of the swish EmQuartier, makes you want to dine here.
The food comes to you from an open kitchen where you can see the hardworking team turn out Italian classics made from top notch locally sourced ingredients. Conceived by veteran Modern European chefs, the menu here takes you through all the favourites of the Italian repertoire. The Royal Seafood Spaghetti Pasta is an explosion of seafood: a half lobster, prawns, scallops, squid, crab, mussels, and clams get tossed in the oily embrace of al dente noodles. Then there’s the Truffle Beef Tartar, an incredibly tender blend of hand cut Angus beef, freshly sliced truffle, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, and a cured egg yolk.
Mediterranean flavours abound in the restaurant’s signature Seafood Stew, featuring lobster, mussels, octopus, and scallops in a piquant tomato based stock, which you mop up with some crusty, garlic-kissed ciabatta. For something more casual, but no less delicious, grab a pizza. The Caprese is the house favourite, though it’s also the simplest: the pie is spread with punchy confit tomatoes, creamy buffalo Mozzarella, fragrant basil oil, and bushels of fresh basil for one of the most aromatic pizzas you’ve ever had. Before you can even say Tiramisu (and theirs is truly excellent), you’ll be booking your next meal here! (Feb 2019)
