About
Step into Oriental Spoon and you immediately find yourself in an oasis of calm. Featuring cutting-edge architecture that nevertheless preserves its Thai roots with intricate traditional decorative elements and materials, the sprawling space is downright gorgeous. There are four distinct areas at the Oriental Spoon; you’re first welcomed by a covered terrace where you can enjoy dining al fresco, before moving on to a cosy bar and lounge area with plush sofas, naturally lit through the looming glass windows. In addition, there is a large dining room with an open kitchen, as well as the Wine Room, where an expansive selection of wines awaits you.
The menu features a wide variety of Thai cuisine, such as the indispensable Tom Yam Goong Mae Num, a spicy and sour seafood soup that’s sure to whet your appetite. For more eclectic options though, the Pla Jien Takrai, featuring a deep-fried sea bass with a tangy lemongrass sauce, is a stellar option. Another highlight at the Orient Spoon is the four different types of rice on offer, namely the Butterfly Pea Rice, Pandamus Rice, Turmeric Rice, and Roselle Rice, each with a distinct flavour that boasts health benefits as well!
If you’re looking for some Western fare, Oriental Spoon also serves up classics such as a luscious Lobster Bisque soup, the quintessential Caesar Salad, as well as their delightful selection of Market Seafood. If you ask us, the Steamed Centre Cut Ice Fish, served with a fragrant black bean herbed fondue, is an absolute must-try. Finish off with some desserts to complete the meal, and whether it’s the Warm Apple Tarte Tartin, or the Mango Sticky Rice, you’ll definitely be in for a treat! (Oct 2016)
