    About

    Chao Ta? We never thought a restaurant would be called this, ever. But ask any Singaporean and he or she will tell you that the chao ta, or “burnt” part of a meat dish is usually the best. There’s just something irresistible about the crispy black crust and smoky flavour. That nostalgic flavour is what the folks at this homely eatery aim to showcase in its array of chargrilled mains.

    Their signature dish is the Pork Ribs, with grilled prime ribs that are crisp on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. To add another dimension of flavour to the dish, it’s served with a homemade spicy dipping sauce and a wedge of lime. Another specialty is the Chaota Fu, an umami dish of deep-fried tofu topped with aburi mentaiko sauce, tobiko, and bonito flakes. Wash the goodness down with an ice-cold glass of their house-concocted Sake Mojito.

    The desserts, which bring back old school flavours with a twist, are not to be missed either. Choose between their House Special Banana Cake with caramel rum sauce, or a brownie with ice cream for a satisfying end to the meal. (Dec 2019)
