    It’s easy to unassumingly walk past the beer vending machine that serves as the entrance to this bustling tempura bar. But keep your eyes peeled, and you’ll be rewarded with a night of good food, drinks, and plenty of fun.

    Owned by father-and-son duo Paul and Dragg Wong, Tempura Oji is a haven for midnight revellers looking for supper grub. And this is some fine supper nosh indeed. The pair invested in a top-grade flash-frying technology, which means the tempura that comes out from the kitchen here is wonderfully crumbed without being too greasy.

    Try the Supamu Tempura, which sees ‘Made in Japan’ Spam coated in a light batter and deep-fried. Enjoy this with the Pumpkin Tempura and a side of pureed radish and chopped ginger. Fancy a proper tempura meal? The Sea Bass Tempura is tender and sweet, and is a good complement to the Tempura Moriawase, a selection of deep-fried King Tiger Prawns and mixed vegetables such as onion and eggplant.

    Wash it down with some Japanese craft beers, or signature cocktails like The Blind Pig, featuring Japanese label Roku Gin stirred with homemade beetroot marmalade and pressed apples. (Oct 2019)
